THE PROBLEMS WITH CURRENT LACK OF LEADERSHIP AND OVERSIGht

The unnecessary deaths that have occurred at the Parker County Jail under a CORPORATE "FOR PROFIT" leadership will shock you.  Sheriff Fowler turned over your county jail to a PRIVATE "FOR PROFIT" CORPORATION, due to his lack of accountability.  To make matters worse, it is a CORPORATION which does NOT even train its' Correctional Officers until they have had up to ONE YEAR of service in OUR COUNTY JAIL.

FIRED THEN HIRED

Not On My Watch

Parker County, let me ask you a question?

If the officials in charge of our jail, cannot currently follow the appropriate policies and procedures to keep our inmates and staff safe, can you tell us why the Parker County Sheriff's Department has hired an ex Ft. Worth police officer who was recently not only terminated but lost an administrative appeal for his involvement in the death of a suspect in his custody? Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, “According to their disciplinary letters, Pritzker told another officer to withhold information that they believed Lowe was under the influence of drugs so that Lowe would not have to be medically cleared first, thus avoiding a hospital guard detail.” Why was the Parker County Sheriff's Department so eager to hire a junior officer who had just been fired and implicated in the wrongful death of a suspect? Ask yourselves if this is the kind of decision you want your elected Sheriff to render in the pursuit of making your county safer? This is just one of many examples of the negligent decisions made by the leadership at the Parker County Sheriff's Department.

With that I leave you with two possibilities: either your Sheriff is making unsound decisions or has he left the wrong people in charge to make them for him. When I am elected Sheriff, these are the types of decisions that would never make it past my desk!

THIS TRAGEDY COULD HAVE BEEN AVERTED

Through training and leadership in the jail, (with our current law enforcement professionals) we should never have another tragedy like the one the Debusk Family has suffered. Under my leadership as Sheriff, we will use our PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED DEPUTIZED PERSONNEL to assess and train the La Salle Employees who we deem "trainable" and we will remove the one who are not.  This is Non Negotiable.

RUNNING OUR JAIL IS NOT A POSITION WHERE THE SHERIFF CAN JUST SIT BACK AND WATCH A FOR PROFIT COMPANY PACK OUR COUNTY JAIL WITH "OUT OF COUNTY", "OUT OF STATE", OR "FEDERAL PRISONERS" FOR THEIR PROFIT.

THE 81 year old Sheriff Fowler

Sheriff Fowler said "it’s really  been smooth sailing. I’m quite proud of it."  We see nothing is running as smoothly in this jail as the Sheriff seems to think.  See how UNDER TRAINED the

LA SALLE EMPLOYEE'S were the day Andy Debusk was killed due to being pepper-sprayed in the face.  He died of asphyxiation  meaning "The state or process of being deprived of oxygen, which can result in unconsciousness or death; through suffocation."  This avoidable tragedy was exactly what happened in this case!  Andy Debusk repeatedly cried out that he could not breathe, yet,the jail officers ignored his desperate cries for help and caused his unnecessary death,.  A competent and trained staff would have known how to recognize his grave condition and not left him to die, unattended, in his holding cell.

THIS IS NOT THE ONLY UNNECESSARY DEATH CAUSED BY OUR FAILED JAIL SYSTEM IN PARKER COUNTY.

The Sheriff's Department has handed over the management of the county Jail to a PRIVATE

"FOR PROFIT", corporation and distanced themselves from all activity and accountability.

VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED!

This TRAGEDY Should Have Been Avoided.

CHANGES TO COME

Your County Jail is now a "for profit" Corporation whose owners are BASED in Louisiana.

La Salle Employees stated, " WE RUN THE JAIL THE BEST WE KNOW HOW."  Gregory Gates states,  "THE BEST WE KNOW HOW HAS GOT TO BE BETTER!" This TRAGEDY is due to LACK OF TRAINING.  MOST LA SALLE OFFICERS HAVE LITTLE TO NO TRAINING. One trained officer is more effective than five untrained personnel.

As you can see, this could have been me, you, or even a family member or loved one.

Changes to come!

Immediate Change will come to the training regimen for both New and Currently employed Officers. My commitment is to listen to, and respect the advice from, all of our CURRENT PROFESSIONALS on the job.  I bring an open mind and know that these professionals have many great ideas to contribute.  They have not been afforded the opportunity to express them through a respectful and meanighful platform.  As Sheriff, I will listen to and implement, sound, effective and innovative policies. With this approach, our facilities will run efficiently along with safety training and fiscal responsibilities. WE CAN, AND WILL, do better!  I am committed to the smooth and safe operation of our facilities. Being a business owner for 30+ years, I have the knowledge and expertise of providing effective leadership

Greater respect for the residents of Parker County

Our duty is to the Parker County residents and to serve them proudly.  It is my commitment to be available 24/7 for the needs of our citizens. I will commit my availability for ANY problems or needs that arrise with each of our citizens who share their complaints or praises about our facilities and/or our officers. My own personal experiences as a citizen of Parker County have been frustrating.  The efforts I have made over these past 4 years to contact the Sheriff for a face-to-face meeting and the results of having been told that he was unavailable or out of the office every time have left me with no confidence in our current Sheriff..  I promise that this avoidance practive of Sheriff Fowler will end on the first day I am elected and assume the leadership of the Parker County Sheriff's Department.
